Teacher Appreciation Luau.
I can’t believe it’s the end of another school year! My boys go through tomorrow, the 26th, but I think they’re already down to just the fun stuff. My youngest had his Field Day yesterday, and my oldest had his math class finals. Today, both have been told they’ll be cleaning out desks & lockers, and I made them empty out backpacks to prepare for the amount of STUFF I’m sure they’ll bring home!
I’m icing end-of-year cookies right now, but I’m taking a quick moment to post these cookies I made for Teacher Appreciation Day back on May 6th. Once again, my timeliness astounds you, I’m sure. 😉
I was so jazzed when the school announced a theme for this year’s Teacher Appreciation week/event: LUAU! There’s nothing that says party quite like a luau, and I couldn’t wait to make these special cookies!
And do you even know? I mean, can you even really guess just how much fun I had making these adorable little hula shirt cookies?! I absolutely *LOVED* them!
And then, I wanted some hibiscus cookies, too. After all, it’s not Hawaiian without hibiscus! However, I couldn’t find a cutter that I liked, so I hand-cut these beauties:
And you’ve all met the amazing Callye over at SweetSugarBelle, right? This is my reproduction of her sweet & easy citrus slices, and they’re so fun to make! She even has a tutorial right here. 🙂
Two more staples of a great luau: pineapples & palm trees. It’s just not Hawaiian without ’em!
I brought a gigantic platter to the school (over 80 cookies!), and I heard they disappeared quickly! I’m so glad the teachers enjoyed them, as I have sure loved the staff here. We are so blessed to have such big hearts teaching our children!

These are really fantastic! I especially love the wet-on-wet techniques for the Hawaiian shirts and the flowers. Great work!
Thank you! The little shirts were my favorite to make!
These are AMAZING!!!! I especially love the flower stamens and the Hawaiian shirts.
Thank you so much! 🙂
