Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!

Well, these pictures don’t need a whole lot of introduction…

Mardi Gras Cookies.

My first set of Mardi Gras cookies! (Then again, I’ve only been making sugar cookies for one year now… most holidays are still my “first” time…) But they were so fun! Also, I used chocolate dough for the cookies to make the colors really POP!

I was determined to find SOMETHING in my collection of cookie cutters that would work. I did hand-cut the Fleur-de-Lis cookies, but the rest all came from existing cutters in my stash.

I used crowns…

Mario’s mustache from Halloween…

Mardi Gras Cookies.
And hearts and butterflies.
(I flipped the heart over to cut the opposite direction after making the first cut.)

I even put sticks in a few of the larger masks to make them the “real deal.” Fun!

This one is my very favorite mask. I love the feathers. 🙂

Though I really like this one, too!

And there were SO MANY MORE! It was very tough deciding which ones I wanted to take pictures of, so I definitely took a bunch!

We’ve got a soccer game for my youngest tonight, so I’m definitely ready for an easy Mardi Gras dinner of pancakes. I hope you are having a wonderful time, and eating some King Cake, too!

These are wonderful and I love your colour choices. Hand-cutting that
Fleur-de-Lis must have been tedious but they sure came out wonderfully!

Thanks, Paula! I seem to hand-cut a lot lately – is that the mark of a fairly new baker, that I never have the cutters I need? I generally end up ordering the shape *AFTER* I needed it for something, in hopes that I’ll need it again. LOL!

    • Thank you! Yep, these were from my first year, but I *finally* got a chance to re-do them & improve this year. Thank you for your sweet words! 🙂
