Never-On-Time Series: Happy, Snowy Snowmen.

Here’s the story of my online life: I’m never on time. If there is an occasion that I *am* on time, you can bet your tushie that I stayed up all night long to make it that way. However, I am on time for most things in real life, and sometimes? Sometimes I’m even early!

Case/Picture in point:

Snowman Cookies.

These happy, snowy snowmen were a brainchild of mine back in December. You know, when people were still making lots of snowmen-themed things. But I promise you, living in North Dakota, life here is still all about the snowmen! Yes, we’re dreaming of & hoping for spring, but the white, fluffy stuff still on my grass tells a different story.

So I’m on time, right? Right?!

*sigh*

I know I’m not, and I’m okay with it. In fact, I have so many instances of being “NOT” (“Never-On-Time”) in the online cookie world that I’ve decided to embrace it and share in a special “NOT” series. Creating themes and series are great ways to deal with something you choose to embrace, right?

(This is how “Laundryfest” began at our house. Or “Dark Clothes Day!” [hey, the lights were getting washed right then, I swear!])

Snowman Cookies.

“Why… so… series???” (Ha! See what I did there with that sly, Joker-style snowman in there?!)

Leaving Gotham, these cookies didn’t get made in December. Or January, for that matter. No, I finally made them last week, and I made them then with a very special recipient in mind – my friend, Christy. She loves & collects snowmen, you see, and I figured she would love & collect eat these happy dudes. She was one of the lucky “Top 5” in the meme that splashed all around Facebook in the beginning of the year: the “Pay It Forward 2011” meme. As with most things, if I don’t do them while I’m still thinking about it, they don’t get done, so I wanted to get my gifts out quickly!

She received her box of surprise snowmen yesterday in Virginia, and she tells me they were such a delight! I was so happy to hear it, too! All of this makes up for being “NOT”… right? *wink*

I didn’t ask Christy what her favorite part of the cookie is, but I’m going to tell you mine: the fun, teeny, little snow! The cute little flakes, and the teeny, bitty crystals! Add that to the snowman’s happy wave, and I had a difficult time actually mailing these guys out!

Even in sunny South Florida – these would be adorable. Did you pipe the white first, let that dry and then pipe the blue? I’m gonna guess (?) that the blue would stop where you’ve piped the white for the snowman’s head? The snowman seems to be sitting a bit higher than the background.

I’ve never made anything like this before but sure want to give it a try. Am I on the right track with only needing to pipe the white? They’re much cuter than anything you’d find in a bake shop. What a wonderful surprise for your friend.

    Thanks

    • Tavette, thank you! Actually, I piped & flooded the background white/blue first, and let it dry for a bit. Then I outlined the snowman in white & flooded it a second time, which is why the little guy sits higher than the rest. I just wanted him to have some dimension – sort of *popping* out of the foreground for the cookie & waving at ya. 🙂
