Pretty Person Pick-Me-Up!

I know it sounds crazy, but it’s true: I’ve got some extra cookies here, and they have no place to go, and no person is expecting them. I made them for a super-special project (which I can’t tell you about just yet), but I will give you this teeny, tiny sneak-peek:

That’s not all, but it’s enough to give you an idea of some of the happy colors! Even more happy, I want to give these cookies to two special people – one dozen each! Two beautiful, pretty people, and I want YOU to help me find ’em!

In the comments below, tell me about the Pretty Person you’d like to gift with these cookies and why. It could be your mom, your sister, your best friend, a neighbor, a coworker, or even the elderly greeter at your WalMart. Tell me a bit about that Pretty Person, and I’ll share the cookie love with them if your comment wins!

I’ll use Random.org to find my winning comment #s on Saturday evening. That’s March 31st, at 11:59pm CST. You have until then to get in your nominations, and you can nominate as many deserving Pretty People as you want – just remember to tell me about each one! Also, be sure to leave your email address so I can contact you if your nomination is a winning comment!

I will ship out the gift cookies on Monday, April 2nd, provided I’ve heard back from the winners & received their Pretty Person’s address. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And that’s it! Simple & sweet, and a “Pretty Person Pick-Me-Up” package will be on its way to two deserving nominees. Please share this giveaway, too. I’m so excited to hear your stories! โ™ฅ

My pretty person is my sister; she’s busting her butt to finish her senior thesis so she can graduate at the end of April with a double bachelor’s degree. I’m incredibly proud of her; she works full time as well going to school full time. A batch of your beautiful cookies would definitely be a sweet distraction from everything going on ๐Ÿ™‚

My pretty person is my husband. He is working hard at work then comes home and works on remodeling or bathroom. All this hasn’t been easy with 2 teens needing to be taken in 2 different directions. On some days the simple thank you isn’t said enough for all that he does do for our family. He has looked at your cookies & is amazed that you do them freehand. We share the joy & the beauty of cooking & baking. I know a batch of your cookies would brighten his day. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I would give them to my friend Amber. Our home was flooded this past summer and through the whole process she was a constant support for me and my family. She gives so much of herself to everyone and I would like to give her back a little something yummy!

My pretty amazing beautiful person is my mom… It has been almost 15 years since my dad passed away and she managed to raise 4 kids with ages ranging from 17 to 10. She is my hero and inspiration. Without her being as strong as she is, there is no way I would be the mother that I am today. With mothers day, her anniversary, my dads birthday and the anniversary of his death right around the corner, I know this would be an amazing pick me up for such an amazing woman.

My pretty person is my husband Jorge Castro, he is a loving father and husband, who does everything for our daughter and me. He is deployed right now for the second time in one yr to Afghanistan, except for this time, he only got a 10day notice to leave on a 7 almost 8 month deployment. Everday he tells me how much he misses our daughter, me, our dog, speding quite family time with us and my cooking as well. I know this is as hard for him as it is for me, and yet he tells me everyday that he wants us to be proud of him and that everything he does is for us.

My other pretty person to nominate is my Mom, she is more than my mom she is also my best friend. She always worked very hard to provide for us and said that even tho she couldnt buy us any of the expensive stuff as kids all she wanted to make sure was that she would guide us in the right way so that we could make the right decisions on our own. She will be visitin my brother and his wife in Colombia very soon, they are having their first baby and they havent seen my Mom in about 5yrs, to this day my Mom continues to work very hard and this time she does it so that she can enjoy quality time with her grandchildren, they are the light of her eyes!

  8. I’ve been blessed with so many “pretty people” in my life, but I will go with the first person that came to mind, and that is my friend Judy. She is one of the most kind and genuine persons I have ever met. She’s always very supportive, and just recently helped me through a crisis with wonderful advice and love. She is a friend that is not just there for a minute, not just for a day, but always and every time. I’ve learned a lot from her, and am so very grateful to know her! I’d be thrilled if she was the recipient of these most amazingly beautiful and delicious cookies. Thank you for your consideration. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Peace and Love, Star

  9. The pretty person I’d like to give these cookies to is my friend Trish. She has the most beautiful spirit and such a caring and giving spirit. She’s faced challenges that most of us will never have to and she has done it with such dignity, humour and grace. I admire her very much and I know that she would love and appreciate your work on these cookies and it would be a lovely pick-me-up. Who doesn’t need that every once in awhile?

person I would like to nominate is my best friend Nikki, no matter the trials and tribulations in her own life with her own kids’ health and other circumstances,if it hadn’t of been for her kindness, love and generosity the night we could have lost our daughter it would of been far worse had I not been able to get a hold of her precious soul, because of her I was there when my daughter went into emergency surgery, her husband and her took care of my boys and have done countless things since to love and support us. I owe her the world.

I’d give them to MY pretty person, my boyfriend Walt I’ve never met a nicer person. He’s a single dad raising four daughters with whom he has a wonderful relationship. He’s the “go to” guy for his entire family, and helps out whoever he’s needed. Whether it’s patching a roof or giving up his own hot water heater for three days to make sure OTHERS had hot water, Walt is kind, thoughtful, considerate and MY “pretty” person!!

  13. Sarah on said:

I would like to nominate our mutual friend Denise, who works very hard to raise her two children as a single mom, working and constantly doing without in order to be the best mom she can be. ๐Ÿ™‚

My pretty person would be my mother. She is my best friend. She works incredibly hard and volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), helping children in her community. Plus, her birthday is coming up (April 15th) and I’m sure she would love a batch of beautiful cookies!

I woke up this morning with another pretty person on my mind. Actually someone I have never met but she has inspired so many people with her courage and strength. Her name is Jo Lynn Chastain from Spokane, Wa. She recently lost her 11 year old son Brandon to cancer. This was his 3rd battle with the same brain tumor. They decided this time that there was nothing they could do, so around Christmas, he was sent home to be with his mother. He was known as the little Jedi warrior. His tumor never stopped growing and disfigured his face to where Jo had to stop posting pictures of him on Facebook. Brandon Bird Chastain passed away March 15. I know it would mean a great deal to know she has inspired me as a mom. She is an amazingly pretty person.

Special Person = My Mother She is the rock of our family and we lost our father last week to cancer. Even though our world has felt like it has crumbled, she still stands strong for her kids, grandchildren and a host of sincere friendships that have been made over the past 50 years. โ™ฅ

Pretty person: my best freind, Keela. I so sad as i write this as she will be leaving minot to move with her family to another base in a few days. She is such a great mom, loving wife, best freind. And i don’t know how she does it but she always looks good! lol I think its partly because she always has a smile on her face.

my friend Stephanie is an amazing woman. She is raising 4 kids with a truly unpredictable but good hearted hubby :o) Has dealt with his infidelities, deep emotional wounds by his family & many early deaths in her family. Through this all, she has never hesitated to be a shoulder to cry on or a hand to help…love her SO much, miss her SO much and hate that our families couldn’t have been physically closer !

My Pretty Person is my husband, Paul. We have been married for just over a year and recently found out we were pregnant–not planned either! Initially, I cried, but Paul showed me the light. He has been such a blessing and really has me excited for this little bundle! Now, we all know that pregnancy usually comes hand in hand with all different types of emotions, but my husband has coddled, pampered, and loved me in every way he can. In fact, I was craving stuffed grape leaves at 9:30pm the other night and he went 15 miles across town to get me some from an authentic Greek restaraunt before they closed at 10pm! If that doesn’t deserve a batch of your fabulous cookies, then I don’t know what does! Haha! All husbands of pregnant wives should get whatever they want for putting up with us!

My daughter is a great fan of yours. She works full time, is in Grad school to become a minster and works 10 hours a week at our church.
My other daughter’s husband is serving our country in Afgan…
it is very hard to decide between the 2.
Your work is absolutely the most beautiful work of art on cookies I have ever seen.

I would love to nominate my friend. She recently lost all of her hair to a condition called alopeica. She’s still beautiful, but it’s been a huge struggle for her because she’s only 35. It’s doubtful this condition can be reversed. I can’t imagine being in her shoes. And, unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to help her through this hard time. But cookies ALWAYS help… right??
    Thank you for your consideration.

I would like to nominate my co-worker. She delivered a baby boy in December at 24 weeks. Sadly, he become an angel almost a week later. She came back to work only 3 weeks after his birth and has shown so much strength. Her due date would have been next month and I could only imagine the pain that she will be going through. I would love for her to have a pick me up and know that there are so many people that care for her and are thinking about her.

My “Pretty Person” nominee is my friend Jane. She’s got 3 kiddos, runs a home daycare (the best on base I might add ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) and she would give you the shirt off her back to help a friend out. While my husband was deployed, my son was put in the hospital. She took in my little girl for the days that I stayed with my son. She treats my kids like her own and just loves unconditionally. She has helped me and so many other people here in Minot and never asks for anything in return. Now her husband is up for a deployment coming up quick and she’s been sick the past couple of weeks. I think that some cookies would bring a smile to her face during all the craziness.

I would have to nominate my mom. She has always been there for me! Now that I am a mom, I can finally understand the love she has for me and why she goes out of her way. If my son is sick and I can’t take off of work, she will take off of work instead. Anytime I ask her for anything… she is always happy to do it!

I would like to nominate my Husband Matt Mendez. He not only is the most selfless person I know but he is also a amazing individual. My husband is the best friend and support system to his entire family and we think he is a “pretty person”

I am going to nominate Andi Walston. This summer she and her family were flooded out of her home but despite all the negatives she kept a smile on her face. A TRUE inspiration!

  33. Amanda on said:

There are so many I could nominate, but I’d like to nominate a friend. She spent more than half of her too short marriage (less than 6 yrs) by her husband’s side while he battled a cancer that just would not quit. He lost his battle last fall. When I asked her how she was doing a month or so back she said daytime is OK, but it’s a night when she’s alone that she really misses him. I think your cookies would be a wonderful surprise for her as she goes forward with her new life and remind her that she’s not alone. She is my Pretty Person and has shown me so much about life and love and courage.

  34. The prettiest person in my life is my mom. Four years ago she at the age of 74 she lost my father to a stroke. She subsequently lost her home of 30 years as she could no longer afford to make the mortgage payments and was left with a staggering amount of debt. My mother held her head high, persevered, and now at age 78 is living on her own in senior subsidized housing. Throughout all of this, she never asked for a thing from either my sister or I. I live out-of-state with my husband and three children and during this difficult time in her life she never once forgot a birthday, anniversary, or special moment for her grandchildren. Although I cannot physically be there for her, I call her every day to see how she’s doing. She has given so much to us all through her love and by example. Now that she’s by herself, it would be so wonderful to be able to do have someone do something special for her like my father used to.

I would send them to my co-teacher from my previous job, Emily. She is such a great teacher with a great heart who loves working with young children, and is so talented! I miss her so much, and if I wasn’t a constantly moving mil-spouse, I would have loved to work with her for many more years! I wish that every child could have a loving and dedicated teacher like Emily.

My pretty person is my husband, who just got fired from his job with the city for standing up to a bully mayor. I’m proud of him for not letting that man push him around.

  37. Anola on said:

If I were to win these beautiful cookies, I would ask that they be sent to my neighbor of 11 years, Kathy. She is an amazing neighbor. She brings food over when I am ill, sees that my hubby has a hot meal when I have to be out of town, generally watches over the entire block! Right now, she is very sad. She is losing her best friend Max (her beagle dog), who belonged to her husband, who passed away 2 years ago. It is like losing her hubby all over again. I would love for her to have the cookies, just to see her smile.

  38. Bonnie R. on said:

I would send them to my son, away at college. He had a rough week, as he found out that he did not get a summer internship he interviewed for AND his laptop computer hard drive crashed with his 20 page project that was due this week (and of course he did not have any backup copy made.) He just needs a pick-me-up this week. He’s a 24 hour drive away from home, so I can’t give him a hug.

  39. I’m lucky enough to have MANY pretty people in my life! My first thought was my husband, Andrew, who is the world’s greatest spouse and my best friend, and has been crazy supportive of me–but I thought that might seem self-serving! ๐Ÿ™‚

SO! My pretty person I’m nominating to receive these cookies is the administrative assistant of our department–Sally! Sally keeps our motley crew of academics functioning, and is so wonderfully kind and generous with her time and affection. She’s a favorite among faculty and students alike, and we all go to her with their joys and sorrows, knowing that she’ll celebrate with us or hand us a tissue and listen. In short: she is the very. very. very best, and I love her. She deserves the world, but hopefully we can start with these cookies! ๐Ÿ™‚

My pretty person, is my wife, Francine. She has been my caregiver for over 13 years now, since I suffered a massive stroke, and can’t do much. I can’t even read or write anymore, so she is writing this letter for me! Thank you! Dan

  41. Angela Lee on said:

My pretty person is my Mama. She is struggling through the last stages to get to a final remission and reconstruction surgery after having breast cancer this past year. She is beautiful and positive, inside and out. I would love to see her win something that she loves- sweets- and see a smile in her lovely face. ๐Ÿ™‚
    Thanks for the wonderful contest!

  42. Heather Martins on said:

Have one more person to nominate, my son’s teacher! She’s been a true inspiration to both my son and I is always so welcoming and helpful, really puts her self out there for her students, she is about to retire after 30 years of teaching and what a great surprise it would be, if she won this amazing give away. She makes me want to be a better person and the life lessons she has instilled in my son I could never thank her enough for that. There are many teachers in this world but she is one in a million and we love her soooo much!
